B. 用英语怎么说中国“白酒”和“干杯”
大多数中国人会用以下7个单词向外宾介绍白酒：
spirit、liquor、alcohol、ale、wine、fire-water和maotai。但这些词都不适合指代白酒，这是为何？网络君来解释一番。
（1）Spirit： 这是个多义词带肆，意指精神、灵魂和情绪。其复数形式spirits泛指各种烈酒，包括威士忌（Whisky）、白兰地（Brandy）、金酒（Gin）、朗 姆酒（Rum）等。工业酒精或乙醇也可用这个单词，外科医生用的消毒酒精（surgical spirit）还是用这个词。显然，用spirit表示中国的白酒并不合适。
（2）Liquor：这个单词源于法语，本义与借自法语的另 一单词liquid（液体）有关。在美国，liquor指用蒸馏法酿制的各种烈性酒；泛指时与spirits同义。同时，含有酒精的任何烈性酒在美国都可 以用liquor或hard liquor表达。不过美国的liquor不包括葡萄酒和啤酒；但在英国伏慧，liquor可以指任何一种含有酒精成分的饮品，包括葡萄酒和啤酒。
