Simplicity tutorial

Not every card you make has to be elaborately layered and excessively embellished. Sometimes all you need is a simple, elegant card, that can easily be mass produced. This tutorial will give you a few pointers on making simple, easy to make cards.

There are many ways to describe a simple card; it could be a card with only a few layers, it could be a card with only one or two stamped images, or it could be a card with very few embellishments.

When I make simple cards, I usually use two or three layers, two stamp images and two or three colors. If I use a white base for my card, then I use only one or two other colors, because if you use anymore, it looks too busy.

On my Christmas Card, I used a dark color for my cardfront, and by stamping on that with the same color of ink, I gave the card a soft and subtle look. By layering the sentiment, stamped on white, onto a brighter color it gives the card a focal point. The ribbon tied to the photo anchor adds elegance that completes the look of the card.

When you want to make a simple card, start by picking one stamp as your main image and one other stamp to enhance it. Layer only one of the images as this is supposed to be simple. Remember to keep the embellishments simple, either some paper piercing, ribbon, a few brads in a group, etc.
